BOLOGNA 1 v AC MILAN 1 - RENATO DALL'ARA - SERIE A - 15/4/23

Getting there, getting in and what its like

Getting there - One of  the easiest grounds to get to from the UK. Bologna airport is well served from across the UK and once there a relatively new monorail can whisk you down town in a matter of minutes (11 euro one way - 20 return) to Bologna  central train station.  The stadium is somewhat walkable from downtown and on both occasions visited, we walked the 3km back after the match stopping off for a beer along the way. Getting to it was straightforward enough from  the station, catching bus 21. Bus stop and ticket purchase are located to the right hand side as you exit the station from its main entrance.  It costs 1.50 euro from memory and the ticket office is located inside the building adjacent to the bus stop.

Getting in - Tickets are pretty easy to source and can be located on their website (Bologna Tickets). There is a period for a few weeks before the match where they are on sale to members only but then they open it up for general sale. On both occasions (v Torino and later v Milan) we had no issues in getting in.

What its like - A great day out!  The stadium is impressive, iconic for England fans of a certain generation (Platt), steep sides giving a great view of the pitch and the football on both occasions has been good with a great atmosphere.

Bologna Ultras are at the north end of the stadium and away fans in the opposite south away  'Ospiti'  section.  On our first visit for the game v Torino  (2-1 to Bologna) we made the newbie mistake of trying to sit in the seats allocated but with some locals sitting in them and us not speaking the lingo very well,   we found elsewhere, first underneath the tower itself and then moving towards the away section in the lovely sunshine. Versus Milan (1-1) the stadium was packed as you would expect and the section we were in had 50% AC Milan fans which made for interesting viewing when the goals went in.  We like Bologna and will be going back for sure.
